vegetable patties | Vegetable puffs | Crispy potato puff


Hi everybody how is going your day today I am going to sharing a delicious bakery style vegetable patties recipe with you. This recipe is very famous in Pakistan and this recipe is commonly known as patties in India and some other Asian countries they also are called vegetable puffs in short short name . you can also try out the chicken version patties check out the recipe on my blog HERE


Ingredients


  • 3 medium potatoes   boiled
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • ½ teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 medium onion   chopped
  • ½ teaspoon coriander powder
  • ½ teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric
  • 4 tablespoons peas  frozen
  • 1 green chili   sliced
  • 4 tablespoons coriander leaves  chopped
  • Puff Pastry
  • 1 egg

Instructions


To make vegetable patties 


  1. Wash well peel and boil the potatoes in salted water.
  2. Drain water from potatoes, and place potatoes in a bowl and then Mash the potatoes and set aside.
  3. Heat oil In a small frying pan then add cumin seeds and chopped onions and saute it for two minutes till onions are soft.
  4. Add coriander, red chili powder, turmeric powder and salt followed by the peas cook it for about two minutes till the peas are soft, and take off the heat.
  5. Let mixture cool for a few minutes then add green chilies and chopped coriander to the potatoes.
  6. Let the mixture cool completely before making the patties.

For Vegetable Patties Assembly:


  1. Defrost puff pastry sheets in the fridge if you are using puff pastry block it will need to be rolled out into square. If you are using puff pastry sheets, then they can be used as without needing to be rolled.
  2. Sprinkle the flour on the surface and on top of the pastry sheet it becomes easy to roll.
  3. Grease a baking sheet with oil and keep aside and then cut the puff pastry into rectangles and put a tablespoon of filling at the bottom side.
  4. Fold over the puff pastry from the top side, and seal it from the edges crimp with fork to make it look pretty repeat with remaining patties same if you are baking right away. Then brush patties with lightly beaten egg, otherwise the chicken patties can be kept in freezer.
  5. Bake it on 200 C around 10 to 15 minutes until patties turn golden brown.
  6. Please note temperature carefully and timing of baking the puff pastry depends on brand used so check the instructions at back of the puff pastry packet.
  7. Some brands available in Pakistan take about 30 minutes to bake, but some brands abroad will take less time.

Freezing Instructions:

Vegetable patties can kept in freezer line prepared patties on baking sheet half inch apart from one another and freeze it about one hour till harden then transfer it into zip lock bag and store it in the freezer till ready for bake.
